Top Soils Omission Trial – micronutrients

Details:

  • 2 year replicated trial
  • Assess farm nutrients constraints, through a submission or omission fertiliser experiment. Each treatment area receives all key nutrients being tested except one – to identify what is constraining productivity.
  • Treatments to include micro-nutrients (trace elements) of Copper, Zinc and Manganese as well as the macro nutrient Potassium, to determine its relationship with the micro nutrients

    • 3 year replicated trial
    • Assess farm nutrients constraints, through a submission or omission fertiliser experiment. Each treatment area receives all key nutrients being tested except one – to identify what is constraining productivity.
    • Treatments include – phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium, sulphur and lime (pH)

Potassium Demonstration

Subcommittee responsible: Crops and Fodder Crops/Soils

Location: Paddock B1

Details:

  • To investigate the soil and yield differences over time between different potassium sources
  • Using SOP, MOP and Chicken Litter and different application rates and methods of application
  • 5 year demonstration and beginning its third season (2020)

How much is enough when adding lime to our soils?

Location: Paddock B4

Details:

  • To investigate how affordable is it to improve the soil and lift the calcium levels rapidly compared to standard practice, compared to placing lime directly with the plant and therefore feeding the plant only.
  • Looking at different lime rates (0, 2.5, 5, 7.5t/ha and prilled lime) and three incorporation methods (no incorporation, incorporated to 10cm, incorporated to 30cm)
  • Will measure grain quality, grain yield (t/HA), soil improvement and the economics of each treatment
