Details:
- Aims to evaluate new and existing wheat and barley varieties performance to determine best performing varieties for Gippsland conditions
- Three times of sowing for wheat to occur at the end of March, April and May
- Two times of sowing for barley to occur at the end of April and May
- Replicated trial
Canola Varietal Trial

Location: Paddock: S2
- Aims to evaluate new and existing canola varieties performance to determine best performing varieties for Gippsland conditions
- There will be one sowing of canola which will include a variety of canola types and varieties
- Replicated trial
Farming Smart – providing high value home grown feed all year round
Subcommittee responsible: Grains & Fodder
Location: Paddock B3
Details:
- To be able to grow fodder crops/home grown feed all year, eliminating feed gaps.
- Demonstration to be for 4-5years
- Four treatments (perennial pasture, relay cropping, winter cropping only and summer cropping only)
- Yields will be on dry matter (kg/HA) for fodder crops and yield (t/HA) for grain crops.
- Available soil moisture will be measured and an economic analysis will be completed at the end of the demonstration
Mixed Cover Crops for Sustainable Farming Trial
Partners involved: GAgG, Southern Framing Systems, Ag Excellence Alliance, GRDC, CSIRO, Australia Government National Landcare Program
Location: Paddock N3
Details:
- Quantify economic benefits to the following cash crop comparing fallow, single species and multi species cover crops
- 3 year replicated trial
Fodder Crop Varietal Trial
Subcommittee responsible: Grains & Fodder
Location: Paddock N4
Details:
- Evaluation of annual fodder species that are suitable for pasture and silage. Varieties must be suitable to the region and commercially available or close to release.
- To be sown mid to late April
- Yield and quality data will be analysed for each pasture species
- One year replicated trial
Faba Bean Varietal Trial
